Access Policies
All Centurion Lounges are “day of departure” lounges. Cardmembers with boarding passes for flights that have just landed will not be admitted, though those withlayovers or connecting flights who produce proof of a connecting flight will be admitted.
Cardmembers will not be admitted more than 3 hours before the departure time on their same-day, confirmed boarding pass (this doesnot apply to connecting flights).
Children under 2 years old will be admitted free of charge if the accompanying parent/guardian can provide a “lap infant” boarding pass or proof of age.
Lounge Guest Policy
- Amex Platinum card and Amex Business Platinum card members may enter with up to 2 complimentary guests if they have spent $75,000 in eligible purchases in a calendar year. Otherwise, a guest day pass can be purchased for $50 per adult or $30 per child between the ages of 2 and 17.
- Centurion cardmembers may enter with up to 2 guests or immediate family (spouse or domestic partner, and children under 18) at no additional charge.
- Delta Reserve cardholders may bring up to 2 guests at a per-visit rate of $50 per person per location.
- Amex Platinum card, Amex Business Platinum card, and Centurion cardmembers may purchase a day pass for any additional guests for $50.
Hot Tip:Check to see if you’re eligible for a welcome bonus offer of up to 125k (or 150k) points with the Amex Platinum. The current public offer is 80,000 points. (This targeted offer was independently researched and may not be available to all applicants.)
How To Get 4 to 6 People Into an Amex Centurion Lounge
Recent guest policy changes have made it difficult for families of 4 or more to access a Centurion Lounge.
Currently, if you’re a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) with only 1 Amex Platinum cardholder, you will pay $110; families of 5 will pay $140; 6 will pay $170, and so on.
If you’re planning to visit a Centurion Lounge often, adding an authorized user to your Amex Platinum card could make sense to add an authorized user to your Amex Platinum card.
American Express charges a fee of $195 () per additional Amex Platinum card. In many cases, if you’re a larger family and your travels involve your partner and children, adding your partner as an authorized cardholder makes sense.
Those who don’t travel with a partner but still travel with children should note that American Express sets the age limit for authorized cardholders at 13 years old. Therefore, if you have a teenager or an adult child you often travel with, it may be worth adding them as an authorized cardholder.
Does Adding an Authorized Cardholder Make Sense for My Family?
Adding an authorized user/cardholder makes sense if your family would access a Centurion Lounge 4+ times. You’ll still have to pay for children over 2 to enter, but it will be cheaper for a second adult as an authorized user versus paying $50 per visit.
What Else Should I Consider?
Adding a cardholder to your account is not a decision that should be made lightly, as their card is subject to the same terms/agreement your card is subject to.
This means American Express holds you responsible for all purchases made by the authorized cardholder and reserves the right to report any authorized cardholder’s use of your account to credit reporting agencies, among other agreed-upon terms and conditions.
If you’re adding an authorized cardholder to your account, you’ll want to be sure they’re acting responsibly.
Final Thoughts
While there are currently only 15 Centurion Lounges in the U.S., there is 1 more scheduled to open soon and 14 international locations.
If you’re a frequent traveler, signing up for a credit card like theAmex Platinum card can offer a ton of value. With the right card, you’ll have access to all of the Centurion Lounges, plus over 1,400 other lounges worldwide … and you’ll be able to relax and enjoy free food and drinks at the lounge instead of being stuck by the gate.
Be sure to check back to this guide before your next trip to get the most up-to-date information. We’ll continue to update this list as American Express adds new locations in the U.S. and abroad.
